FAQ DISMED

Speech Therapy

1. My child has a language delay. Should I seek medical advice?

Yes, a language delay warrants evaluation as soon as doubts arise. The earlier treatment begins, the faster progress will be made.

2. Can a speech therapist help with dyslexia?

Yes. Dyslexia, like other learning disorders (dysorthography, dyscalculia, dysgraphia), is one of the main conditions treated.

3. My child is being treated for ADHD. Is speech therapy useful?

Yes, in some cases. A speech-language pathologist can help address difficulties related to attention and written or spoken language, which are often associated with ADHD.

4. What if my child is gifted but struggling in school?

Yes. HPI children may also have language or learning disorders. Speech therapists assess their skills and suggest appropriate tools.

5. How is follow-up conducted?

An assessment helps to clarify the profile (strengths and weaknesses). Then, a rehabilitation program is defined, often one session per week.
