FAQ DISMED
Graphotherapy
1. My child writes poorly or too slowly. Should I seek professional help?
Yes. Difficult, painful, or illegible handwriting can indicate a writing disorder. An assessment can help identify the cause.
2. Can graphotherapy help with dysgraphia?
Yes. Dysgraphia is one of the main conditions treated in graphotherapy, with the aim of improving fluidity, legibility, and comfort when writing.
3. My child complains of pain when writing. Is this normal?
No. Pain in the hand, wrist, or shoulder is not normal and may be related to poor posture or improper pencil grip.
4. Is graphotherapy useful even if my child can read?
Yes. Graphotherapy focuses on the act of writing, independently of reading. It can be useful at any school age.
5. How does graphotherapy follow-up work?
A graphomotor assessment is carried out to evaluate movement, posture, and speed. A personalized program is then proposed, with tailored exercises and regular sessions.
